Polestar is a new subsidiary of Volvo. In the past, Volvo vehicles have had high-performance versions designed by Polestar.

Now Polestar has its own line of vehicles with a different and more modern version. Rather than being a performance division, today it is an electric car manufacturer.

The Polestar 2 is the second vehicle to launch under the Polestar brand, a division of Volvo that prioritizes performance electric vehicles. The Polestar 2 shares most of its EV technology and fundamentals with the Volvo XC40 Recharge SUV.
